Video Overview
A composer and choreographer of vibrant creativity, Amber Gudaitis began her artistic training in violin and Classical ballet. Her passion and innovation continued to serve her during her higher education and professional work as a trumpet player, composer and choreographer. She has studied at the University of North Texas, Arizona State University, and the University of Leeds in England. Her compositions have been premiered by the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra, the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, and by professional chamber ensembles and soloists. Gudaitis' various musical and choreographic works have been performed domestically in Massachusetts, Arizona, Oregon, Nebraska, Washington State, Virginia, and California. Her compositions have been showcased internationally in England, Portugal, and Costa Rica. Also having achieved some scholastic acknowledgement, Gudaitis' music has been performed in academic settings in the United Kingdom, set to dance in both faculty and post graduate recitals, and published in the Lux Undergraduate Creative Review.

Much of her musical work is written for the traditional concert hall, without the inclusion of other arts. However, Gudaitis also directs her artistic focus toward collaborative performances and additional mediums, adding depth to audience experience. She values the evolutionary possibilities of the performing arts, incorporating dance, stage lighting, spoken word, and collaboration with a multitude of other artists. She has written music to partner ceramic art, music inspired by geographic locations, and music to portray seasons and themes of nature.

As a choreographer, Gudaitis is known for her ability to work with performing musicians, customizing her choreography to be appropriate for specific music venues. She works in the genres of ballet, modern dance and minimalism. Many of her choreographic works are written during the music-writing process. Costume design, lighting and conceptual arc are created to work with the musical material, taking into account musical interpretation, period-specific performance practice, and the type of music theory utilized in the piece. The energy of this artistic interaction has influenced much of Gudaitis' approach to movement. While some of her works are complex in metaphor, pulling the mind into a display of athleticism and unconventional movement, others focus on lush atmosphere, portraying mood through specialized lighting and minimalistic choreography.
